When everybody` s almost passed out

Is finding someone to bring home.

One thing though

There` s always a pool table

And there` s always some type of action going on

Did I mention there` s a pool table ?

Satan' s God Touring The Riot Scene 2011 (zine)

I got this as a freebie from senior Jeremy Bequette himself (Santa' s God). This is a 12 pages long zine regarding the, you've guessed it Satan' s God 2011 tour. I enjoyed this personal, highly detailed account of Jeremy Bequette' s adventures. The numerous problems he had with is old car, trying to make it to the next gig, doing  a concert where people don' t give a fuck, exit the building trying to escape Jeremy' s demented antics. I like his weird ass heavy metal / noise / bass experimentation, that' s a fact. But after reading about all that live craziness (GG Allin anyone ?) I feel safe knowing that I never saw one of his  performances. But seriously folks I loved reading this zine, it' s funny and weird at the same time. Not recommended to people who are easily offended. I like it. Thumbs up baybee! As you already know Jeremy' s not internet / high tech oriented (no website). Kevin Greenspan - maroon bells (bootleg tape)

I go this as a trade. The first thing I did is scope out the net for information. Unfortunately, I discovered  that mister Greenspan. is not internet friendly ( no info whatsoever). `Maroon bells`, with a name like that, me think it`s probably 

noise  \  experimental noise. Then, what the hell an amazing six tracks mini album (under twenty minutes long ) of light minimal electronics, near ambient music, almost new age (and I mean that in a good way, for once),  going into  ethereal territory. This  is a relaxing, peaceful, heavenly, soothing album. It conjures feelings of blissful serenity 

with a cold (kind of a winter chill) isolationism (I can hear some field recordings somewhere in the background). I wonder what gear, equipment senior Greenspan uses. 

Is he old school i.e. analog and synthesizers ? Maybe he`s digital, computers, VST`s, effects, sequencers and various softwares. One things for sure this is an incredible release (if you ever find it). Available somewhere on this planet. Almost obscure album reference, it sounds at times, a little bit like Tangerine Dream`s `Stratosphere`

 and `Phaedra` albums.    

                                                                                                    

Media Junky # 17 fall 2012 (zine)

Last week, I got a small parcel, courtesy of Jason Rodgers (my Psionic Flesh partner in crime). Here's the latest Media Junky zine. MJ is a publication / music review zine. Jason only reviews physical releases which means he' s not into digital / internet culture. He believes the internet promotes passivity and transforms everything into mere image. Personally, I think that both physical and / or digital cultures are compatible. I think the net, if used properly (just like anything) is an amazing promotional tool. And yes, I prefer actual paper letters than emails. I like to hold in me hands what I'm reading (be it a book, a magazine, name it baybee).  
               Anyways, this is a half-sized, cut and paste, 8 pages long zine. There's 25 zines reviews and 12 music reviews (a total of 37 amazing reviews). I really like Jason' s reviews, they' re short and sweet and on the ball. Good educational, informative reading material indeed. Now get a piece of paper, write him and send him a couple of bucks to cover those excruciating pain in the ass postage fees.

Jarmo Sermila – mechanical partnership (CD)

I got this as a trade item, again. What can I say, I love trading it`s a great way to receive cool stuff. Never heard of Jarmo Sermila before, so I google it. Turns out he`s a 74 years old Finnish composer. He`s a specialist in chamber and electroacoustic music. Oh man, another old geezer doing some weird ass pseudo- intellectual electroacoustic wanking.s  So I thought. And boy was I wrong. You can`t judge a book by it`s cover indeed. This is a short (15 minutes) five tracks mini-album. This is smooth, relaxing beatless electronic music. There` s a good variety of subtle, rhythmic melodies which gives this album  a light, introspective, mysterious, dreamy at times atmospheric feel. This is music for fairy tales. 

I never heard anything like this before. I have this old split tape from the early eighties featuring  Hartmann (on one side) and Bourbonese Qualk (on the other side) which sounds at times remotely similar. I`m sorry but that`s the only reference I can come up with.

Otolathe – wafer thin (mini CD-R)

Paul Kestutis (Florida, USA) records \ performs experimental improvised electronic concrete music under the name Otolathe. This is a nice and short  (under 15 minutes) mini CD-R. Four songs with four different styles involved, now can you dig that sucker ? And what is it all about you ask, here goes:

1- `holy crappage`: drums up front + synth in the background = pure garage electronic bliss.

2- `lost my head`: guitar + voice = a religious and \ or sarcastic country song (you be the judge).

3-  `00001002`: cool funky electronics which sounds like blackexploitation movie (Dolemite, Shaft, Blacula, etc, etc) soundtracks. Excellent.

4- `bass fock`: brothers and sisters this is da noise track: various frequencies going bezerk = a mechanical inducing claustrophobic feeling (a softcore version of Masonna without screams indeed). Gozungus !!!
