DJ Hollow Life - Quantum Religion (mp3)

Another mighty impressive free download. DJ Hollow Life hails from Clearwater, Florida, USA (just like my good collagist buddy Thompson). This album is rather short (it runs under 35 minutes). I have to say it`s a shame because this is some pretty amazing, mind-blowing, dare I say mind-boggling material.  The music is not top twenty material which is  definitely my cup of tea. Commercial music bores me. And normality is so fucking boring indeed. You could say that this album has a lot of different styles to offer:  light IDM \ electronica (a delay in my though process), instrumental atmospheric  electronics (advice from a drunk man), dark bluesy experimentations (digital monkey`s fling bits), dark chip experimentations (too many tracks to mention), circuit bent noiseworks, dark ambient noise, dark chip music, anyways, I think you get the drill. You could also mention that this album falls under the category of dark chip (Super Mario getting slammed left and right by Bowser himself, ah, ah, ah),  circuit bent (your old Casio going apeshit) , experimental music. My favorite word when you don`t know what the hell this s is. Highly recommended too. Get it here:   https://archive.org/details/QuantumReligion-djHollowLife

ONE DAMNED YEAR BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!

I woke up this morning, sat down, had a coffee and try to shake my internal cobwebs. I`m still not fully awake. And I`m thinking what should I talk about in my next post? I have no idea at the present time. Then it suddenly  hits me … Bang!!! I started this underground, independant  blog more than a year ago. Mastock the blog released it`s first ever post on remembrance day, November,  11th, 2012. Mastock is now a year and a month old, just like a little baby, my little baby.  I look at the statistics and there`s almost 4000 clicks on my various articles \ posts. Not bad for a blog which basically has:
No publicity
No promotion
Talks about non commercial stuff, like:
Mail art
Zines
Noise
Underground bands \ artists
Drawings of famously unknown artists
Short stories
& various insanities
so happy belated birthday Mastock
and kudos to all my readers

I thank you all for your love and support
I would also like to thank all my enemies and \ or the fine folks who never believed in me.

Without your stupid comments and negative feedback I would never do anything except sit on my fat ass whine and complain, yatta yatta, yatta. Your negative opinion has been noted. Anyways, opinions are like assholes, everybody`s got one.

Concrete Island (cassette)

A collaboration between Scott Moore (Limp Wrist, Needles)  and Dave Coen (Whitehorse). This  short tape (under 25 minutes) has four tracks. And what does it sounds like? Here goes:
1- fear from behind = electronics + percussions = a dark, bleak claustrophobic , nightmarish atmosphere (me dig this baby, yesssssss).
2- double moon & at midnight = minimal electronics \ ambience with dark undertones thrown in for good measure.
3- escape from concrete island = a subtle mix of ambient noise and electroacoustic music. It`s sparse, percussive, repetitive, yet strangely compelling and meditative. I highly recommend this release. This is high quality dark music. The perfect soundtrack for an atmospheric thriller \ horror movie. Limited edition of ??? Bite itself \ self com split (cassette)

Unfortunately this short tape (under 20 minutes) is sold out. Too bad though because this is some pretty amazing material. Let`s start the first side with Bite Itself performing `abyss`(8.56 minutes): a potent mix of raw noisy outbursts, ambient darkwave, ambient noise with lots of lo-fi nearly silence moments. Simply amazing, you`re always wondering what`s coming up next. Impressive experimental music. On the second side Self Com does three tracks.
1- status report (2.05 minutes) = ambient noise probably made using old school analog synth drones. Too short for my taste buds. I would like to hear a longer (20 minutes perhaps) version of this piece (yes, it`s that damn good).
2- dead space (3.27 minutes) = recalls Syd Barrett`s guitar works. This is better material though: catchy minimal, lo-fi,  psychedelic with a soft eerie voice (what else is there to say).
3- I`m a mean (4.13) = ambient noise + found sounds + more weird, out of this world lo-fi voice = a foggy drug enduced (without drugs) sonic trip. Good stuff.

Hiroshima Yeah! # 104 (October 2013) (zine)

This is a 8.5 by 11 inches black and white, cut and paste, five pager zine. On the  front page we have `poetry from a Leonard Cohen afterworld`Mark graces us  with a potent dose of amazing, ironic, makes me thirsty poetry. My favorite piece this time around is:
Philosophy
I shite,
Therefore I am
Now this is some mind boggling, profound,, deep down Uranus poetry. It inspires me too. Here`s my philosophical statement of the day:
Ambidextrous
I masturbate
Therefore I`m self-sufficient
thus being said next in line, there`s Gary Simmons `1.5 years behind bars`or as I would describe this `tales from the Inside`. It gives you an honest account about what it is being jailed in good old UK prison system. `Give me liberty or give me death`, damn straight. Also, there`s lots of music, concert, book and zine reviews. Interesting  `The Ceramic Hobs` album review. I`m really curious and interested. I have to find more information regarding CH. Last but not least, there`s another short ditty written by senior Ritchie himself `Anhedonia`. A Bukowskiesque, urban, lowbrow kind off drinking story (with a masturbatory undertone). It made me thirsty  like hell. Waiter, bring me a beer every ten minutes and when I`m drunk, every two minutes. Contact address:

Hiroshima Yeah! # 103 (September 2013) (zine)

This is a 8.5 by 11 inches black and white, cut and paste, four pager zine. Let`s begin with `poetry, culture, alienation, boredom and despair. An impressive collection of short, slice of life poetry. This time around I have two favorite poems which are:
Work
Work is something you do
Between visits to the pub
And
Belonging nowhere
I don`t belong here
Or anywhere else.
Pretty amazing brothers and sisters!!! We also have our monthly installment of `1.5 years behind bars` (Gary Simmons various ramblings about life inside i.e. I mean being jailed, dumbass!!!).  There`s lots of reviews here: music, book, and concerts; The B-52`s (one of my favorite bands)  & Joshua Berkett & Jon Collins. `After hours `(written by Mark Ritchie himself)  is a short story about boozing + doing a threesome with a hooker at work (of all places, lol) after working hours, of course. I almost had a boner while reading this. Thumbs up dude!!! Instant classic lowbrow material. I wanna read some more, feed me more baby!!! I love Hiroshima Yeah1

art is everywhere part 11

This time around I have more original and impressive mail art. Enjoy the show because it's free. Support the underground \ alternative culture.

The last one is my favorite. Primitive, punkish, and pissed-off too, with colors included!!!
