I found this compilation at Renaissance Montréal. I
have to admit that when it comes to the holy sonic trilogy (at least in my
case) of experimental / electronic / electroacoustic I`m hooked. Especially when
the compilation is still sealed and at 4.00 $ I`ll take my chances. This came
out in 2003 on the Canadian music centre. The CMC, since 1959 has been
proudly supporting, preserving and promoting the work of Canadian composers.
This double compilation features mostly Canadian composers and some
international composers from France (Christian Calon, Ned Bouhalassa
and Francis Dhomont), Cuba (Sergio Barroso), Greece
(Christos Hatzis) and Germany (Gene Martynec
and Hildgard Westerkampf). You will hear sounds from Québec
(Louis Dufort, Michel-Georges Brégent, Robert Normandeau, Gilles Gobeil, Alain
Thibault, Daniel Leduc, Ian Chuprun, Timothy Brady & Jean Piché), Ontario
(Bruno Degazio, Paul Dolden, John Oswald, Mara Zibens, Larry Lake, Randall
Smith, Hugh Le Caine, Ann Southam, Kristi Allik & Darren Copeland), British-Columbia
(Michael Bushnell, Peter Hannan, Martin Gotfrit, Barry Truax, Wes R D Wraggett,
Sylvi MacCormac, Andrew Czink, john Oliver & Jon Siddall) and New-Brunswick
(Monique jean). There`s interesting variety of music styles in here
experimental, electronic, abstract and electroacoustic. A great way to discover
the less commercial side of Canadian composers (so there is life after Nickelback).
