Nice Hair Wulfgar - NHW-07-16-11 Sessions- The Wadsworth Project (mp3)

This is an ongoing project featuring Kris Gruda ( bass guitar, objects, vocals, loops, cassette tape, electronics, and keyboard), and Dan Reaves  of Trotsky`s Watercooler ( using thing, electronics, synthesizer, samples, percussion, and various objects). I always find it hard describing experimental noise (harsh stuff is easy, just think of Merzbow, The Haters, MSBR, etc, etc). It`s easier to do a small description of each tracks, here goes:
1- Meditation- Before and After: meditative ambient noise with electroacoustic undertones.
2- I Am Calling: low-fi, rhythmic noisecore.
3- Slow Movement Does Not Lessen the Merciless Onslaught: more rhythmic noise, good stuff.
4- A Message From Wulfgar: voice recorded backwards + synth + various unidentifiable noisy objects = a creepy, paranoid, outer worldly experience.
5-  May Solitude Become Shapeshifting Chaos: ambient noise \ electroacoustic  experimentations .
6- Wulfgar Can And Will Dance: nearly song oriented noise with lots of amazing percussive elements.
7- Transformative Wall of Death: synth lines + low-fi frequencies (the best way to end this).Get it here:

Ironing & Hal McGee – For The Sake Of Sound (CD-R)

This was recorded at Hal;`s place on Saturday, march 13th, 2013. on a old school 4-track cassette recorder. This is nine songs, rather long (61.49 minutes) album. They used a shitload of stuff: turntabalism, radios, minimal synth, microcassettes & cell phone, voice, vinyl scratchiness, field recordings, and groovy lock loops.  There`s a good variety of stuff at work here. They explore different styles too: weird out of control almost jazzy material ( squeeze between the knees, blue shirted boys, breakin`concrete), psychotic, schizoid improvisation  with voice and various trimmings (color theory), minimal electronics going into ambient noise territory ( yes or not?), low-fi experimental noise dirges (shapeshift), spoken word + experimental noise (for the sake of sound), blues cutups \ turntabalism + weird noise bytes (a jaunty jig) and more voice cutups + experimental noise (good & heavy). This is a difficult listen, not recommended to pop music fans. If you`re into bizarre, weird, strange improvised sessions, than this baby`s for you indeed.

The `Hey, Judah` sessions – Reaves, McGee, Gruba, McGee (CD-R)

This album was recorded in Orlando, FL at Hoboerotica Studios using one microphone, august 18, 2012. Lots of instruments were used \ abused in there: percussion, gongs, cymbals, electronics, dog wrangling, objects, voice & screams, tapes, loops and bass guitar. And what about the end results ? Well, some folks would say that those two tracks are pieces of improvised wankings, like a sausage fest foursome (since there`s no women involved).  I like this album it almost sounds like free form electro acoustic music with lots of banging  i.e  percussions. It sounds like organized \ improvised chaos with intrinsic values. There`s some noisy parts mixed with percussive elements which gives this album a tribal feeling, modern primitives perhaps with some definite meditative elements thrown in for good measure. Good background music ( I was doing the dishes while listening to this), plus it`s a free download (you can`t go wrong). Get it here:

The Juniper # 15 (summer 2012) & # 16 (spring \ summer 2013) (zines)

Those are twelve pages long, half size, black & white, cut & paste, zines about gardening, going back to mother nature and leaving a simple life. In my backyard, I grow rhubarb and chives. I love chives, they go great with egs salads, soups and potatoes. I`m not a gardening expert though. This is an  interesting, philosophical and educational read. There`s articles about: me and my bicycle (the freedom and joy of riding a bike),  Greenwoman magazine (amazing biography of da peanut guy, George Washington Carver), asparagus with chive blossoms recipe (simply mouth watering), variety trials in your personal garden (basic gardening knowledge for beginners), the human experience as a universal trajectory (nice intellectual article), slowing down (a stunningly beautiful piece of positive energy, a welcome change in the usual nihilistic, dark, bleak, sarcastic, no future, negative literature out there), raised bed gardening (never heard of this concept before), and gardening with a greater purpose (never though of gardening that way). Daniel Murphy is passionate about gardening, zining and punk music. Highly recommended. You can contact him here:

The Mudshits - Hell Yeah (cassette)

Haltapes have been around since 1982 (and still going on strong today). They`ve been active for more than thirty years. Thirty years of homemade experimental music and more than two hundred releases, now that`s something. It commands respect indeed. This ninety minutes tape was recorded on march sixteen, 2013. The `band`consists of the following members: Jiblit Dupree (voice, guitar, percussion, trumpet), Hollis Smith (voice, slinky/drumstick, resonator guitar, tambourine, computer piano thing, bells, concertina), Hal McGee ( voice, organ, percussion, keyboard, synth, bass, diddley bow), Mark McGee ( tubanos, talking drum, caxixi, washboard).  I don`t know if they recorded this straight or not. If not, I`d say that the booze and ganja must have felt great that day. It seems like they had an amazing time recording this. It sounds like a drunken \ stone (perhaps) psychedelic \ psychotic \ schizophrenic controlled \ maybe out of control \ improvised jam session (all fourteen tracks included) . Not an easy listen, it`s a mental and emotional challenge. That`s why I like Haltapes you never know where this is going. Expect the unexpected, indeed. More information here:   Hal McGee

9-Way Split (CD-R)

9-Way Split (CD-R)
I recently received a small parcel containing assorted weirdness like color collages, some CD-R`s, one DVD, a couple of good old analog tapes and some flyers. This album features nine noise \ shitnoise bands \ solo artist (limited edition of thirty copies, definitely rare material). I really enjoyed this release a lot. It doesn`t sound like your typical harsh wall of noise attack at all. Every one has a different style. Here`s a brief of what it sounds like:
1- Robert Deathrago – brutal head: processed voice \ mumblings (about tight asses & in the mood for some ass = various sexual nonsense) mixed with toy guitar and \ or electric guitar (sounds like a weird stop motion  atmospheric porn flick from the seventies).
2- Dolan Hose – I`m finna: somebody`s pretending to sing here + light noisy chunky bits = sweet.
3- Dangerous Noise Tornado – noise assault: a mix of various chaotic low-fi metal \ plastic banging which creates a meditative mood and \ or feeling to this piece.
4- Crapshack – untitled: various loose, improvised metal grating & banging (I just love that stuff).
5- Kakapo- flounshit: various samples & field recordings & alien unrecognizable noise of unknown origin (sounds like a horror movie soundtrack indeed).
6- Brutal Pasture- live at lake mirror: harsh metal banging & low-fi noise sources = ouch me balls!!!
7- Frank Goshit – things; there`s some sparrow samples and lots of low-fi noodlings in the background near ambient noise material.
8- Chicken Thomas – harsh chicken shit noise wall with a fan: that`s  exactly what it is (enough said).
9- Susan Smith – chien: a male vox keeps repeating the word `chien` (dog in english) ad infinitum with some bell sounds mied for good measure = ritual music with dark undertones. (Lady Anthropophagus Unincorporated 2012)

Defiance Of Gothic Nirvana X Issue 34 (zine)

I got this one form the man himself Jeremy Bequette (an anti-technology, kinda weird but decent guy from the deep bowels of the underground). This is a 8.5 by 11 inches black and white, cut and paste zine. There`s a lot of shit happening inside those twenty pages. Let`s see, there`s some DVD reviews, a couple of gross porn pictures ( he probably likes them too), some, offensively funny music reviews (hey, I have a sick sense of humor, leave me alone and blame it on society), including Minimal Frank`s `wrecking havoc`cd, now that`s what I`m talking about. Next there`s some weird ass shorties like: sad decline of me \ brain power zero (gives you an idea of his mental state at the present time, shouldn`t have read it), trapped in east St.Louis (that`s funny indeed), polish Hitler fag, my first gig (nice), Dave Chapman tribute (good tribute), what the fuck is wrong with me \ no more women (and I taught I was a sick puppy, buddy you need serious help here), and finally, slave day \ turtle \ my cute cock (don`t want to know). I recommend this to folks which are open minded and not easily offended. Don`t forget that Jeremy is also `Satan`s God`( solo experimental masturbatory bass incantations and invocations, damn straight).
